From Puna's unique Icon collection, this intricate handmade cushion depicts the manos (hands) featured in the unique iconography of Peru's Nazca lines. It is thought that these ancient symbols were used as a connection point between the Incan Empire and the Universe. This piece has a rich wool front and pure cotton back and is a unique synthesis of traditional hand-weaving techniques and modern forms.
Each cushion is hand-woven in a small atelier in Peru using virgin sheep wool. The artisans produce the textiles on a horizontal loom. As they weave different patterns, they use at least two different techniques to create one cushion. Hence, it takes up to ten days for the artisans to make one cushion.
